I bought a car from here it broke down after 2 days, the gearbox failed and the warranty that come with the car wasnt worth the paper it was written on, needless to say I was told that I was changing gear too much ? refused to fix, refused to refund, swore at me over the phone, trading standards are now dealing with it. I would advise anyone reading this not to trust this dealer or the person running it. No doubt like all the other bad reviews he will deny it. Look at all the good reviews on here they have all only ever written one review thats because they are all FALSE reviews written by Brad. Buy from here and you will experience the same, youve been warned. BUYER BEWARE
Very impressed. Staff are more than friendly, remembered my when I called and when I turned up to pick my car up. Add to this the good prices and great selection of cars I cannot recommend them enough.
Recently sold a car and experienced a strong burning smell and smoke pouring from the engine within a couple of weeks after purchase! Was informed that this was just silicon on the engine from the service and that it would be fine. I monitored the issue as advised by the garage and it continued to happen so they garage agreed to take the car in for repair (no complaints here). Got a call from the Director then saying that his garage and mechanics could not find a fault and that he didn't trust HIS OWN mechanics and chosen garage and that their work hadn't been of quality for a period of time now!! He suggested that i take the car to my chosen garage (Alarm bells seriously ringing at this point). Anyway, i put the car in with my garage and due to the issue being intermittent it was decided that we would take an educated guess as to what was wrong and make the repair to which Ampthill Motorhouse covered and we are all aware that the repair may or may not fix the issue! Ideally it would have but unfortunately this wasn't the case and after a bit of a tug of war with AM they decided to offer me an exchange and said they would get me a like for like car in a few days - 4 weeks later i was still waiting with zero updates from them! Ampthill Motorhouse seem to struggle with communicating with customers once a sale has been made, after sale care is at 0%, and probably need a crash course in how to operate Outlook and emails too! Anyway I finally exchanged my car for a completely different make, model and spec due to me felling like i was backed into a corner with no other option! On the day of exchange the Director of the business promised me he would be there but failed to turn up, i rang him to discuss the specifics of the exchange and the result of this call was him swearing and hurling abuse at me down the phone whilst his sales manager started swearing at my pregnant wife as well as him threatening to take me to court (not entirely sure on what grounds as i simply wanted to exchange a miss-sold car for an alternative on the right terms)! I'm hoping that my experience of Ampthill Motorhouse is an isolated case and they treat their other customers with a lot more respect and professionalism! Anyway, i have reported them to Trading Standards based on the experience my wife and I had and my advice would be to look elsewhere for a car but i genuinely wish them all the best! Oh and apparently they do not have a refund policy so do not expect your consumer rights to be applicable when stepping onto their forecourt!
